We’re getting extremely excited here at Penhaligon’s HQ, about the official opening of the Peoneve Terrace, on Monday. To coincide with the exclusive launch of our new fragrance Peoneve at Harvey Nichols, The Fifth Floor Terrace in London, is being transformed into a magical and multi sensory garden until the 31st of August.
For the terrace, we have worked closely with the lovely team at Harvey Nichols to create a bespoke cocktail and dessert menu. The cocktails have been inspired by the notes within the fragrance and include such delicious and mouth watering tipples as the Peoneve Punch and Peoneve Collins.
The dessert menu has veen inspired by the velvety scent of blossoming flowers. The delectable desserts available include White Chocolate and Peony Mousse and the Kentish Strawberry and fresh mint salad.
My personal favourites however, are the Boozy pops which have been created exclusively for the terrace, by Head Chef of the Fifth Floor Restaurant, Jonas Karlsson. They’re absolutely divine! We’re holding our launch party next week so we’re post more details and photos then.
To share our excitement with all of our readers, we’ve decided to hold an impromptu Peoneve competition! Simply leave a comment below and tell us why you think you deserve to win a bottle of Peoneve. The best answer will be chosen by us and the lucky winner will win a 100ml bottle of our new heady floral scent.*
Good luck!
- Lauren

Peonies are my absolute favourite flower and have been for many years….. they have always reminded me that my birthday is nearly here because of the time they bloom! Unfortunately with the seasons getting all messed up, the flowers seem to be all mixed up and so I can’t count on the being around over my birthday any more! I’d love a bottle of Peoneve so that I can feel like it’s my birthday every day, all year round! I’ve been awaiting its launch for months now, and popping into my local store repeatedly to see if it was there yet!
Just to say I am so proud of your purfumes and love the creativity always. You show passion in creating and enhancing a beauty. I love Lily of the Valley as well. The above is just so wonderful to look at. One more thing is your history and it shows consistency in your fragrances. I deserve winning as I really love your fragrances and always recommend them to others.
I deserve it because it’s my birthday!!!!! I deserved to be given a chance and win this even though I may be a little too late in entering!!!
One blustery day in London, a very melancholy woman stumbled into Penhaligon’s Brook Street store. Her mood lifted entirely and she forgot her troubles as she breathed the Lily of the Valley scented air. London became not a gloomy place, but one of enchantment. Several months later she still sprays on her Lily of the Valley and Ellenesia perfumes when she begins to feel the weariness of life and needs a dose of enchantment to lift the gloom. Today, that same woman is feeling particularly melancholy, and Peoneve seems as if it would be just the thing to brighten the mood and reinforce the spirit.
What a beautiful looking bottle and I was lucky enough to try this in store the other day – gorgeous scent. I would love to win a bottle for my mother as she truly deserves to be spoilt like this. I love it when I can smell her perfume as it reminds me of home! She loves Penhaligons and has a lovely collection of your bottles from various times in her life, but alas they are empty now and she would love your new scene Peoneve to be a pretty and classic addition to her dressing table!
I really deserve to try the new fragrance because
1. I have been the unofficial brand embasador for Violetta for years and it may be time to shake things up.
2. I have moved back ‘oop north’ and can not pop into Penhaligons the way I used to. /irl needs her Penhaligon fix
The reason why I REALLY deserve winning a new fragrance is that every time I pop in a Penhaligon’s shop I never get out without a new bottle to add to my collection and I would really love to get one as a contest winner for once
I would love to smell the scent on my skin of deep-petalled, unfurled and blowsy peonies dropping their heavy heads in the summer sun. I love having jugs of these flowers in my home but, alas, this year the garden is full of slugs and puddles and my poor glamorous peonies are silently slumbering in hope of better times, their sensuality hidden away for another year. Please afford me the possibility of awakening mine by awarding me this prize!
I got to know Penhaligons when you were in York in the Shambles in the seventies and have been to your shop in Burlington Arcade. As I no longer live near either a bottle of your new fragrance would be wonderful. Still have old perfume bottle from the old days!
it would be lovely to have a new perfume, i very rarely buy them as i spend all my pennies on my 3 children and perfume is more of an extravagance and a gift from a man – which mine seems to be lacking on the gifts these days lol i would wear the perfume to the ritz for my olympic trip i won with trebor sweets
I just love Penhaligons , there is no more to say !!
I adore Penhaligon’s perfumes and gifts and buy for friends – sadly nobody returns the favour
Penhaligon’s fragrances are so exquisite and loved the world-over, I always tell my daughter, “You can never have enough Penhaligon’s, yet there is only one Penhaligon’s.” I would love to give her a bottle of her own so she would stop sneaking mine!
I’ve been using Penhaligon’s scents for almost 15 years now, and my girlfriend loves them all. Unfortunately, she still hasn’t found the perfect scent for herself and we both hope that Peoneve might fill that gap. She is already advising all her friends to get Endymion, LP 9 or Hammam Bouquet for their husbands / boyfriends, so she definitely deserves her own.
I would love to win a bottle of Penhaligons Peoneve for my wife because it sounds like a wonderful scent. And to be honest I am a bloke so I really am lost when it comes to this sort of thing, but I know for sure the description of The Fifth Floor Terrace cocktail and dessert menu is just magical and such fun – it reminds me of my gorgeous Barbarella (thats my wifes pet name by the way
)
Random generator pick me! I’ve never owned a new bottle of Penhaligons and have had to make do with half-used ebay ones. I’d love the sensory experience SO MUCH! I promise to grow peonies in my garden if I win!
I love to laze in my garden with the scent of my Grandfather’s peonies gently intoxicating me. It is sublime. This year, sadly not! An early bloom, dashed by rain and over within three cold miserable days. I hope Peoneve will transport me to lazy garden days even when I am bound to my desk.
Due to the strange weather we have had this year, the usual blossoms and flora I love so much in my garden have not materialised. I am really missing being surrounded by floral, sensory pleasure. The next best thing to that is Penhaligon’s scents…..a spray of peonies and I can close my eyes and imagine I’m surrounded by them.
I would love to win this as I love Penhaligon’s products and I adore perfumes especially floral ones they bring back memories of my childhood.
I would love to win a bottle of Peoneve,
to find out what’s new and truly believe!.
Definitely a scent to give and receive.
I should win because my middle name is Bluebell and for years have worn your Bluebell fragrance. Peonies are my favourite flower and as a loyal Bluebell wearer, it would be great to mix it up on special occasions with a new fragrance from my favourite perfumer! P.S. I LOVE the blog too.
I’m gonna marry in this month, and i don’t have a special wedding fragrance. We plan classic-romantic wedding, and this lovely perfume will be my second husband!!! I love Penhaligon’s perfumes especially Lavandula, and LP NO.9! Thanks for the giveaway!! X
As a tea sommelier and doctoral candidate of highly scentsible nature, I am certain that Penhaligon’s Peoneve would be my cup of tea. I can think of no more palatable companion whilst writing about scents, scentsibility and scentsuality in Jane Austen’s novels than your new fragrance, which promises to be as seductive as Pemberley was for Elizabeth Bennet herself. Putting all the ‘p’s together, Penhaligon’s Peoneve will be my Pride and Prejudice. (This will of course become a truth made universally acknowledged in my thesis!)
I’ve tried perfume after perfume, in search of my very own signature scent. But in the words of U2, “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for.” What I have found out along the way, is that I love strong, evocative, floral scents. I was once advised to choose my perfume according to my personality. So how would I describe myself? Timid? Definitely not! Bashful? Never! Quiet? Forget it! I need a perfume that’s confident, fragrant and a little bit cheeky. For some reason, I also love Peonies. Maybe it’s because they’re flamboyant and flirty, and have such an amazing fragrance. Hold on…..’choose a perfume according to my personality…?’ Ah ha! I think my search for a scent has just come to an end? Is Peoneve the scent-sational fragrance I’ve been searching for all this time?? Surely, I deserve the chance to find out……….???
I’ve been battling illness for the last two years. During that time, Penhaligon’s wonderful scents have helped to give me strength. Bluebell relaxed and comforted, while Lily of the valley refreshed and lifted me. Thankfully, I’m now recovering. These beautiful scents have been a trusty staff throughout my illness. Perhaps Peoneve could be the joyful companion of my wellness.
How lovely to be encircled by the silken red ruff of peony petals, enchanted at being the centre of Penhaligon’s Peoneve.
I deserve this because I’m writing about the beautiful perfumes of Penhaligon’s on my thesis. It’s about the roll of nostalgia on package design. Oh, and I love the smell of peonies!
Congratulations Frances, you have been chosen as the winner of our Peoneve giveaway! Please email us at marketing@penhaligons.com with your address and we’re send you a 100ml bottle of Peoneve!
I have never tried Penhaligon’s perfumes and it would be nice to start with this one. I love peonies! They remind me my nana’s garden
I’m not sure I deserve to win more than anyone else but I’m a huge Penhaligon’s fan and over the years have tried most of your perfumes. Since I am currently housebound I love to wear my Penhaligon’s perfumes to bring the smells and senses of my garden inside and since peonies are one of my favourite flowers this would be a real treat.
I don’t deserve to win any more than any of the other lovers of your wonderful scent, however I have written a little poem about this perfectly pretty perfume
P- A – Perfectly pretty scent for a girl who loves pretty things
E- An – Evocative smell of wild flowers in the fields
O- Are you- Ordinary if you wear this ? No extraordinary more like!
N-A – Nature lover, at one with beauty
E- An- Ever flowering ever green garden
V- This is Very unique and remarkable
E- An English summer smell that transcends age and time
This is my garden http://pinterest.com/pin/52846995597664744/
No words….only the image of the Gods’ flower. The legend tells that its name comes from Peone, the greek doctor of the Olympic Gods. Peone used the flower to cure Pluto, and the God gave him immortality transorming Peone in the Peony!
I would like to win as tomorrow I will be classed as an over 50 and this prize may help me to come to terms with it. Plus of course it will be beautiful like all Penhaligon’s perfumes.
I love Penhaligon’s !! It is as simple as that!!
I adore my bottles of perfume they are like people as they all have different characteristics. Each day I carefully select a perfume to favour my mood and the season. A bottle of Penhaligon’s Peoneve I believe would be perfect for my cocktail hour on the Penhaligon’s Peoneve Terrace at Harvey Nichols on the 24 August.
My first memory about peonies are from our summercottage. My grandma, who passed away a couple of months ago, loved flowers so we had peonies too. They were so big and beautiful and I just stanned there admiring them. They were allways full of ants! =D I would like to have this fragrance because it would remind me about my grandma and those beautiful summers I spent with her when I was a child <3
I know that I deserve this magical potion
This perfume fills me with a positive emotion
I want to gave Peoneve to my beloved person
She we’ll enjoy this special fragrant sensation
The Penhaligon’s always brings us the best
When I use your fragrances I feel blessed!
I think that this fragrance will be floral and green
Amazing aroma of summer with hint of clean!
I’ve followed Penhaligon’s ever since I was a little girl, after I opened a book by Sheila Pickles that was scented with Violetta. It wasn’t easy finding Penhaligon’s fragrances, since I was in Asia, but I’ve followed up faithfully, making special trips to purchase (or at least smell) every new release that they’ve had, even though I often wasn’t even tall enough to reach the fragrance counter! Winning a bottle of Peoneve would be a wonderful continuation of that tradition, especially since peonies are a traditional Chinese flower
I don’t know about ‘deserve’ but I was fortunate enough to receive a sample of Peoneve when I shopped in your Covent Garden store last Saturday and I have fallen blissfully in love. Peonies are my favourite flowers and I eagerly await the moment when they appear in all their blousy glory each May – for me this signals the start of the perfect English summer. Penhaligons have captured all that beauty in a scent that I have been waiting half a century for. Could my patience be rewarded please ……
Life is too short to miss a penhaligon’s fragrance. Life is too long to use just one penhaligon’s fragrance.
Peony is very Chinese, Chinese loves Peony, Peony is a symbolic of wealthy, Wealthy is luxury, Luxury is Penhaligon’s, Penhaligon’s produces the best luxury perfume.
I adore peonies and have a beautiful tree peony in my garden. I only receive perfume as presents and rarely treat myself. I can imagine how lovely this fragrance will be it would be fabulous to own
I’m not sure if this makes me deserving or just clumsy…
I’m currently nursing a sprained ankle and grazed knees – a couple of days ago I tripped headfirst into a puddle (soaking myself completely) in front of a work client. At least my daily favourite Violetta was still keeping me smelling fresh and confident, even if I wasn’t feeling it!
In Georgia (USA), the most beautiful peonies bloom for just a short but glorious period during the early Spring. I long for them all year long and sometimes special order imported blooms from the local florist to enjoy them until the next season. What an incredible treat it would be to find a peony fragrance that would deliver that sweet smell all year long! Every Southern belle deserves such luxury…
I would love to win this perfume to add to my beautiful penhaligons collection!
Im sure it would feel wonderful against my skin, the heady English floral scent floating around me. Just like bluebell this floral fragrance would remind me of a beautiful English summer all year round. Like with every single one of the penhaligons perfumes, when you wear them, the scent carries with it your own personal memories! I can’t wait to try this!
One of my favorite memories is of attending the Peony Festival in Ann Arbor, Michigan when I was 14 years of age. It was MAGICAL. One of the first times I really connected with flowers/scents.
I don’t know if that makes me “deserve” the perfume, but I’d certainly love to try it and see how it meshes with my memories!
Because a beautiful fragrance in the morning makes a beautiful day.
First of all I want to congratulate you with this wonderful creation! My english is not perfect, but I’ll try my best to explain you why I deserve to win this bottle of Peoneve, well, I think that all of us deserve it as for all of us Penhaligon’s is very important, when I heard that Penhaligon’s will release Peoneve I couldn’t believe it and I was very happy as peony is my favorite flower and my special amulet, a lot of years ago my granny gave me a little plant of peonies and so far this precious flower is growing in my garden, in this moment my granny lives in another country so I can’t visit her as much as I would like to do it, but this flower always reminds me about her love, the curious thing about it is that my gradmother’s perfume somehow reminds me peony aroma, so every time it’s blooming I feel her so near, for me it’s just magical how scents can take you away and give you so interesting sensations, the bad thing is that those fragil flowers don’t last for long..so I need this fragrance to feel this sensation every time I’m feeling a little bit nostalgic, peonies always bring me a lot of sweet childhood memories, my summer holidays and a lot of sunshine. I wish I could have these sensations every time I need it! No need to say that peony for me is the queen of flowers, it’s the my most precious gem and tresure not only for it’s beauty and scent-for me it means much more than that.
The peonies in my garden only lasted about 3 days this year because of the terrible heat – so it would be lovely to be able to wear their scent for the rest of the summer – and I know it must smell gorgeous, because no one captures the true, fresh scent of a flower like Penhaligons:)
If it would suffice to declare my love for the peony, my favourite flower, consider it done xx
I’m an American academic who writes and researches the history of smell and scents, and I have been devoted to Penhaligon’s ever since a friend and I stumbled into the Chelsea shop and staggered out with as many bottles as we could fly home with! My work on scent and my discovery of Penhaligon’s came nearly at the same moment, so I like to think my book project runs on a combination of Elizabethan Rose, Lily of the Valley, and Bluebell. My only quibble with the line up to this point was that my favourite flower, the peony, wasn’t represented — until now!
This is the one summer I am not taking a research trip to the UK (for health reasons, as I am recovering from surgery), and I verymuch wish I was so I could smell Peoneve in person. However, I live primarily in Alabama, far from any US stockist…
I would love to win this! Peony is my favorite flower. Every year when my grandmother’s peony bush blooms, around the end of May, she fills two beautiful vases full of them and calls me when they are ready to pick-up. My grandmother is 96 and is very spry for her age, and still gardens. We both share a great love of peonies, and I dried the ones she gave me this year. Every time I smell peonies, anywhere, I always think of her.
I’m so pleased that my favourite parfumerie is launching a fragrance of my favourite bloom! Peonies have quite a short season in the garden, and a bottle of Penhaligons Peoneve mail mean I can wear the scent of summer all year long x
I deserve to win because when I used to live in London, I bought Artemesia and Lily of the Valley to wear when I moved back to Canada. Now everyone asks about my perfume and I feel I have single-handedly spread the word of Penhaligon’s to the people of Western Canada. The fragrances, to me, immediate evoke the best of the best times I had in London.
