A Royal Celebration!

With only two days left until the big day, most of London seems to be buzzing with anticipation; Regent Street is now swathed with Union Jacks, and plans for street parties and celebrations are being discussed wherever we go. We must admit that we are rather looking forward to a day of nationwide celebrations and good cheer! We’ve decorated our boutique windows, have the finger sandwiches and cakes at the ready and look forward to toasting the Royal couple on Friday.

Our boutique windows all dressed up for the big day!

Our connection with the Royal family began when William Penhaligon, our founder, became the Court Barber to Queen Victoria. In the early 1900s, Queen Alexandra, the Consort of King Edward VII granted us her royal seal of approval. Today, we are the proud holders of two Royal Warrants; granted by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh (granted in 1956) and HRH The Prince of Wales (granted in 1988). Royal Warrants are reviewed every four years by the grantees and so we feel very priveledged to hold such long-standing warrants.
We hope you’ll join us in toasting HRH Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton on Friday and wishing them a very happy future together.

Join us for afternoon tea, a slice of cake and perhaps something a little sparkly in London, Edinburgh or Paris!

Not knowing too much about how your government works, what’s a “Royal Warrant” as it applies to your store/product?

    • Hi Styrch

This is a great question (and I’m sure you’re not alone).

In the words of the Royal Warrants Holders Association; “Royal Warrants are a mark of recognition to individuals or companies who have supplied goods or services for at least five years to HM The Queen, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh or HRH The Prince of Wales. Warrants have always been regarded as demonstrating excellence and quality, and are highly prized.

There are around 850 Royal Warrant Holders representing a huge cross-section of trade and industry. They range from traditional craftspeople to global and multinational firms operating at the cutting edge of technology.”

You can read a little more on their website.
